Public Wins Round Two in Calaveras Dam Project Review

November 9, 2009 -- Thank you to the more than 1,400 members and supporters who sent e-mails regarding the Calaveras Dam project!
 
Your e-mails along with the letter from 25 Bay Area conservation groups forced the San Francisco Planning Department to announce last week that the public comment period on the Calaveras Dam EIR will be extended until December 18 and a third public hearing on the project will be held in Sunol. Round one was won in April 2008.
 
Please Come to the Public Hearings in S.F. and Fremont This Week
 
With momentum and pressure building on San Francisco, we have an opportunity toimprove the dam project and secure stream flows in Alameda Creek that will allow restoration of steelhead and salmon to the waterway. Please come to one of the public hearings and speak in favor of increased stream flows and good stewardship of this regionally significant stream.
 
The Planning Department will hold three public hearings on the Draft EIR:
 
Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10, at the Fremont Main Library, 2400 Stevenson Blvd, in Fremont, at 6:30 pm
 
This Thursday, November 12, before the City Planning Commission - in Room 400, City Hall, in San Francisco. The Calaveras Dam project EIR is item #12 on the agenda and will probably be heard around 4 or 5 pm. Please come if you can after work because the item may go on for a while. There will now be a third public hearing on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 6:30 pm at the Sunol Glen Elementary School, 11601 Main Street, in Sunol
