CSPA protests Permit Renewal for Mount Shasta Fish Hatchery waste water treatment

December 31, 2008 -- CSPA has requested "designated party" status after reviewing the request for the proposed renewal of the Waste Discharge Requirements for the Mount Shasta Fish Hatchery.

CSPA finds the request deficient in the areas of describing the wastewater content, effluent levels of metals, an inadequate antidegradation analysis and the proposed Permit does not contain Effluent Limitations for acute and chronic toxicity.

CSPA will meet with the the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board to ensure the final version of the permit meets all federal and state requirements.
