DFG to attempt 2nd rescue at Caples Lake on September 22nd:
CSPA coordinating Volunteers

September 19, 2008 -- DFG, under the supervision of Joe Johnson, Senior Field Biologist, will attempt a second fish rescue behind the bladder dam on Monday the 22nd at Caples Lake. Crews will start arriving between 6am and 7am to setup.

What the site looks like Monday morning will decide what type of capture method is used. If DFG can get the one E-boat in the water, that's all they will need to capture fish. The E-boat will be crewed by DFG staff. The department may try seining fish as well.

Johnson advises, "Like any job things are sure to change and we will change with them this round again but with a tighter time frame."

Due to the distance from the water to the truck fish will be placed in trash cans to transport. This is where DFG will need some help as two people per trash can will need to carry about 50 to 70 pounds for 30 to 40 yards. Six to ten very strong volunteers that can stay till we are done that day are needed.

The mud is a issue but DFG will lay down a path to walk on if possible. The volunteers need to arrive around 9am and be ready to work.

Volunteers from the previous rescue list have been notified. Any other persons wishing to volunteer please contact the Webmaster at CSPA. The list will be cut off at ten.
