NCCFFF to appeal DFG's "Do Not Accept" for council recommended changes for SF watersheds
September 29, 2009 -- The Fish & Game Commission recently published the Department of Fish & Game’s recommendations on proposed regulatory changes submitted by the public for the current triennial review (www.fgc.ca.gov/regulations/new/2009/sfresponsetorec.pdf). The Department’s recommendation for the NCCFFF proposal to concerning four South San Francisco Bay watersheds (Alameda Creek, Coyote Creek, Guadalupe River, and Stevens Creek) was “Do Not Accept.” The purpose of the NCCFFF proposal is to increase protection of wild steelhead in these watersheds through closure to all angling until the populations have recovered. NCCFFF has sent a response letter to the Commission to urging them to reject the Department’s recommendation in favor of the NCCFFF proposal. Dougald Scott of the NCCFFF will present the letter and oral comments at the F&G Commission meeting this Thursday.
