Below you will find CSPA's Media Release regarding the lawsuit we filed asserting that the California Department of Water Resources has knowingly violated the California Endangered Species Act by killing threatened and endangered without obtaining take permit required by state law. CESA specifically requires such a permit as part of the protection of species listed under the act, but DWR failed to obtain a permit for their take of the endangered winter-run salmon, threatened spring-run salmon and Delta smelt.
