| More News Independent Review of the 2 Gates Fish Protection Demonstration Project -- August 6, 2009, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. July 23, 2009 --The CALFED Science Program will hold an independent scientific peer review workshop for the 2 Gates Fish Demonstration Project August 6. Two Gates is proposed as an adaptive management experiment using operable gates in the central Delta for protection of sensitive fish species and management of water supply. Two temporary, removable gates would be placed in the central Delta to manipulate flows in an effort to reduce entrainment of delta smelt at the water export facilities. A panel of national experts will review the 2 Gates Project Summary Document prior to the public meeting, participate in discussion with the proponents, and then produce a Review Panel report addressing the panel charge questions within a month of the meeting.
