More details on Million Boat Float, August 16-17
August 8, 2009 -- While some details are still being worked out, the schedule for the Million Boat Float is now available in basic form. The two day event will start with a float up the Sacramento River. Yachts and small boats will join the fleet as it moves up the river from different staging points. Several commercial salmon boats may join in the parade if enough donations can be collected to cover fuel costs. Once at Sacramento, a riverside rally is planned, most likely in Old Sacramento, at 7:00 pm.
The activities will continue Monday with an around the Capitol parade of trailer boats starting at 8am. and a full rally with legislative and private speakers will top off the events at 11:00am. The event is drawing national media attention including the staff of, "60 Minutes". Click on the poster for more details and the URL's of links to the event's organizers.
